Assistant Buyer/Fashion Coordinator (12-18 Month Contract)
In this contract position, you will have the opportunity to showcase your talents, by leveraging creativity, tenacity, relevant skills & experience, and your understanding of trends, as they pertain to the Fashion Industry.
As an Assistant Buyer/Fashion Coordinator, you will be responsible for organizing and fulfilling purchasing needs for Fashion Apparel and Accessories, across several different categories. You will also be responsible for coordinating line reviews, photo shoots, showroom and tradeshow setup/teardown, and other related Projects.
Work outside of regular office hours, and Travel (Canada and US) may be required.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Perform daily/routine tasks to support the VP of Brands, with strategic initiatives and special projects.
- Communicate and maintain productive relationships with overseas vendors, on a daily basis (via email and phone).
- Work with Buyers on setting up line reviews.
- Follow up on samples sales analysis, catalogue labeling and organizing line plan.
- Update quantities on line plan for the Procurement Analyst.
- Request quote sheets from vendors and ensures that they are completed and that the information is accurate.
- Coordinate approval of samples/production and places orders.
- Expedite purchased materials, revise, enter, or change purchase orders, effect cancellations, improve terms, obtain bids and makes and/or recommends contract awards within scope of role.
- Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports, and analysis as requested by VP of Brand.
- Coordinate Photo shoots in support of seasonal collections or upcoming launches (booking models, makeup, catering, travel, etc.)
- Hands-on setup/teardown of samples and merchandise for line reviews, tradeshows, showroom, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:
- Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience in wholesale/retail; preferably in the Fashion industry.
- Experience dealing with Overseas Vendors.
- Post secondary education related to Fashion & Design.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; including delivering presentations, and negotiating with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent knowledge and personal interest/passion for Fashion trends
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Tech Savvy; strong knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related systems. Comfortable with operations reports and analytics.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills, and detail oriented; high accuracy reviewing documents (technical specifications - numeric, writing, data, etc.)
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Able to work in a team as well as independently.
- Ability to work outside of regular office hours, and travel across Canada and the US if necessary (must posses a valid Passport).
- Ability to work on your feet for prolonged periods of time, and lift up to 20 - 40 lbs.
